Samson, The Fattest Cat In NYC Weighs In At 28 Pounds And Has More Instagram Followers Than You!

Samson, the “Fattest Cat In New York City,” has officially stolen our hearts. Chances are, if you spend any time looking at the famous cats of Instagram, then you have already seen the charming Maine Coon Cat, who weighs in at nearly 30 pounds. Samson has his own Instagram page, and nearly 80,000 followers, its ran by his proud owner, Jonathan Zurbel.

Samson and Zurbel began gaining national attention this month when the New York Post did a piece on the adorable cat and his owner. Zurbel proudly boasted to the newspaper, “He’s the [largest] cat in the city, and I welcome any challengers to step up.” And, Samson’s veterinarian backed up Zurbel’s claim and confirmed that he is definitely the largest cat to be seen in her NYC office.

Maine Coon Cats are the largest of domestic cats, and it is not uncommon for them to weigh in at around 15 to 20 pounds. Samson, is apparently just a bit on the heavier side. Zurbel wanted to make it very clear that Samson is in perfect health, and he is not overfed or overweight, he’s just a solid guy!Zurbel joked in his interview with the post that caring for Samson has been pretty expensive, his cat food bill is astronomical, not to mention the amount of kitty litter that he goes through, plus his groomer’s bill because he has long hair.
